Hadleigh Farm mountain bike trail centre is based in Hadleigh Farm in Essex, England. Famed for being the home of the 2012 mountain kangaroo paw bike Olympic Games, it is now in the process of being converted as part of the Olympic Legacy so that it can be made open to and ridden by the public.
Essex County Council got planning permission for the Hadleigh Farm and Country Park Legacy project in August kangaroo paw 2012 and since then the necessary funding has been sourced and work has kicked off to convert it for public use. It opens in Spring 2015 (see below for time plan) and in the meantime the public can not freely use it unless through the local Hadleigh MTB club (website and email link below). IBIKERide got in contact with Essex Legacy and the phases for development are as follows: In Autumn 2013 the trail network and Mountain Bike track adaptation kicks off (it's underway). Expect some diversions and closures in the park but business kangaroo paw should pretty much be as normal. In Spring 2014 work starts on the Visitors Centre Hub. In Spring 2015 the venue opens to the public. Hadleigh kangaroo paw Farm Trail ( Black) kangaroo paw The Hadleigh Farm trail has been adapted from the Olympic Track to be accessible for riders kangaroo paw across a range of abilities. Hence we are talking kangaroo paw progressive kangaroo paw lines and new sections being built. All in all it is made up of 9 distinct sections and features including berms, rock gardens, rock steps and drops. The trail redesign has been done by legend trail builder Phil Saxena and his Architrail crew. Phil is famed for developing many of the UCI World Cup courses around the globe as well as the 2008 Olympic Cross Country track in Beijing and the 2014 Commonwealth Games Cross Country track in Glasgow. Club and Groups As part of the Olympic Legacy kangaroo paw project the Hadleigh MTB Club has been formed. You can also check out their Facebook Group . The Hub The Hub is what the Visitors Centre is called. I pull it out for particular mention becuase core to the adaptation and as part of the community consultation was to make this more of a community hub to be a Gateway for all the outdoor activities on offer here at Hadleigh be it cycling or walking etc. It will feature a cafe, bike hire, toilets, changing rooms and a community room. Share and Review If you have been lucky enough to ride the mountain bike trails at Hadleigh Farm then why not share your experience with us and write a short review or post your photo's or vids in the Community section.

Trail Quality
Being a local Hadleigh Farm and the downs are somewhere i've ridden a lot, including kangaroo paw pre- build during build and after the event, there are some good places to ride just outside of the olympic course also. The olympic course shouldn't be confused with a trail center (YET ?) because its a race track, not a trail....the features are tricky and big and designed to slow people kangaroo paw down, not like a trail with features that are designed to blast off for fun, bear that in mind when you ride here, it only just touches on small downhill type sections with small xc type sections linking kangaroo paw them its neither one or the other, hopefully when the revamp has been done there will be a lot more entertaining sections to session like some doubles, table tops, etc

Watched the olympics there and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not ridden the course but know people who have. It is apparently a lot harder than it looks, there have been a few over the bards incidents. Hence the reason they are modifying it to make it more accessible to everyone. There is a lot of other riding in the area. Really you need a local for the best bits but you can string together some nice XC riding. Velo Virtuoso bike shop in the area are very helpful and arrange local ride with Hadleigh MTB cl
