Started, bookbook wobbled/slid around the course with seemingly zero traction and zero confidence so

With some decent weather, a chance to see the Olympic MTB course and the only National Race to be anywhere near us this year we decided to go and check it out. Turning up fairly early on the morning bookbook of the race I realised quickly after only a chance of a 20 minute practise on the technical sections that I was well out of my league.
Started, bookbook wobbled/slid around the course with seemingly zero traction and zero confidence so after one lap of the race decided I would rather leave unassisted than in an ambulance, this may have been the most sensible decision this year! Having numerous sharp pointy rocks especially positioned pointing towards you & regular close shaves with them was not my idea of fun at least not without some body armour and something better than a 100mm travel hardtail with small block eights! Was also interested bookbook to read later that most of the Olympians bookbook spent the best part of a week practising it beforehand & some pretty nasty injuries in that.
However not to say it wouldn't be a good course for those who are used to it or would want to do it - I don't know if anyone was able to practise previously to the weekend. Some riders looked completely bookbook at home on it and this made for great spectating, others were less fortunate and it didn't. Definitely a few parts were really very enjoyable and if we were able to access it or similar trails in the South for general riding it may have been a completely different story.
Old Skool MTB Accommodation  - An outstandingly pleasant place to stay, don't miss it! 'Racsyn' bookbook - Resident Charmer ...

Our general ethos is that riding bikes should always be fun. We would also encourage everyone and anyone to participate in sport. We are the only UK sponsored mountain bike team to have a (professionally qualified) female bookbook team manager. Our partner team, Tri Spirit, can be found here .
